The effects of meditation
Meditation is a constant topic we come back to in this day and age. More and more problems occur that can be treated with daily meditation. But why should you meditate? Here is a list of the most important effects of Meditation.
less stress & less anxiety
It has been proven in multiple studies that daily mindfulness meditation can help decrease stress levels and is a great way to treat anxiety disorders. While meditation might not help alone it improves the life quality of a stressed and busy person significantly. I personally meditated a lot in my worst times with anxiety disorder and it really helped my calm down and focus. If you wanna read further into it you can read THIS study or THIS one.
better/less sleep
You will obviously also sleep better if you meditate in the evenings and calm yourself down before going to bed. Not only this! It has been proven that long meditations can decrease the hours you need to sleep to feel good. There are still things about this that science doesnβt understand but at the end of the day all that matters is: Youβll sleep better if you meditate. HERE is a study on the topic of needing to sleep less.
better immune system
THIS study has found mindfulness meditation to help better your immune system. They concluded: βThese findings demonstrate that a short program in mindfulness meditation produces demonstrable effects on brain and immune function. These findings suggest that meditation may change brain and immune function in positive ways and underscore the need for additional research.β
more positive
This is more of a personal thing but through the concentration on breathing and trying to let go of the bad thoughts and bad energy you get more positive with time cause you restructure your mindset. Whenever I meditate I repeat mantras to myself. These little mantras and affirmations are good for self-esteem and motivation which definitely boosts happiness too.
lower risk of heart diseases
Certain kinds of meditation and meditation programs can even lower your risk for heart diseases. THIS study said that it βsignificantly reduced risk for mortality, myocardial infarction, and stroke in coronary heart disease patients. These changes were associated with lower blood pressure and psychosocial stress factors.β
If that isnβt the coolest connection of mind and body then I donβt know
