How to grow your blog with youtube
It‘s been done before and it can definitely work if you do it the right way. Here are some tips on how to grow your blog with YouTube.
If you haven’t started a blog yet I can recommend Bluehost* to you to get started. It’s what I’ve been using for years for the blog you’re currently on.
Include it in your marketing plan
If you want to use something to market your blog and business, the first step would be to implement it into your marketing plan and customer journey. Map out how you‘re planning on using Youtube to market your blog and map out the customer journey in-depth. If you don‘t have a marketing plan already you should really start working on that.
Research how the algorithm currently prefers videos
The algorithm on Youtube changes semi-regularly so people don‘t play the system. You gotta find out and stay on track with what helps you in the algorithm. It used to be the time your videos were watched. now it‘s how much of your video is watched plus time watched in general. That‘s why long videos that are engaging all the way through work better now while a few years ago lots of show videos being watched all the way through were enough.
Check out your niche on there
Look how videos in your niche are usually done, what seems to work for others and what trending videos are. You want to do what works but put your own spin on it and fill it with your own expertise on the topic at hand. If there isn‘t a lot of content in your niche on there that‘s even better, that way you have very niche watchers that fit exactly to the problem you‘re solving.
Figure out how to translate your branding onto video
How will you use your brand colors, brand fonts, brand voice and mission statement on your channel? That’s including speaking, B-Roll, graphics, color grading and motion graphics. Don‘t expect to do it perfectly from the start, you‘ll find a balance with time. This is not something you have to have down from the start.
Plan in time for editing
…or reviewing your editors work if you have one. Editing can take up a lot of time in the beginning if you don‘t have a lot of experience with it. Plan in enough time for it in your week and ideally batch your editing to not burn out from doing it so repetitively. Running a blog and a youtube channel takes a lot of consistency, planning and batching. I‘m speaking from experience of running a blog and podcast at the same time.
Figure out where to put your calls to actions
Call to actions need to be placed well to actually convert people over time to grow your email list and therefore customers. Find a balance of when to send people to a freebie and your email list and when you want to mention a product of yours directly and get sales that way. This is part of planning out the customer journey that I mentioned above and takes trial and error too since you‘ll find out more from analytics with time.
My biggest tip is really just analyzing how others do it, what the youtube gurus recommend and staying consistent. So this is how to grow your blog with youtube. Always remember that you don‘t need a million followers on there to make money!
If you didn‘t start a blog already or wanna upgrade it a bit I have some recommendations for you:
